Track & Field Finishes Strong At Conference Tournament
The Schreiner University men's and women's track & field teams delivered a strong performance at the SCAC Division III Championships, highlighted by a conference title, multiple podium finishes, and several school record marks.

 

The men's 4x100m relay team of Jayden Clawson, Justin Britton, Justin Gooden, and Xavier Tellez earned a runner-up finish with a time of 41.03, currently ranking 17th nationally.

 

Justin Britton led the way individually in the sprints, placing third in the 100m with a time of 10.62 and adding a seventh-place finish in the 200m (21.92). Xavier Tellez also had an outstanding meet, finishing second in the 200m (21.23), which ranks him 17th nationally, and placing sixth in the 100m (10.71). Both Britton and Tellez matched the school record in the 100m with identical times of 10.61.

 

Sean Dansby captured a conference championship in the 800m, winning in dominant fashion with a time of 1:52.47. Dansby took control early and never relinquished the lead, and currently sits ranked 28th nationally.

 

The men's 4x400m relay team of Justin Gooden, Kameryn Aguero, Xavier Tellez, and Sean Dansby placed third overall while setting a new school record of 3:20.34.

 

Justin Gooden added a fifth-place finish in the 400m with a time of 48.74, while Neal Ramos placed sixth in the 400m hurdles (59.97) after setting a new school record in the prelims with a time of 58.14.

 

In the field events, freshman Evan Guardiola placed fifth in the discus with a throw of 41.10m, followed closely by fellow freshman Tyler Davis in sixth (40.42m). Jayden Clawson secured fifth place in the triple jump with a mark of 13.29m, and Wilson Hammond tied for sixth in the pole vault, clearing 3.79m.

 

On the women's side, the 4x100m relay team of Kira Bufford, Andrea Eckermann, Prudence Lewis, and Kyllysta Dawkings placed seventh overall with a time of 54.42.

 

Kyllysta Dawkings also earned an eighth-place finish in the javelin (27.83m). Maria Bernhardt had a strong showing across three throwing events, placing fourth in the discus (36.29m), sixth in the hammer throw (34.24m), and eighth in the shot put (10.32m).

 

Schreiner's performances at the conference meet showcased continued progress across both track and field events, with multiple athletes earning top finishes and establishing new marks in the program record books.
